A lesson or two can be learnt from Chad Hurley about how to make upwards of USD 1.6 billion dollar in 10 months flat. He is the founder of youtube which has single handedly popularized the concept of sharing videos across the globe.
It's hard to believe it has been in existence for only 10 months and already serves over 10 million videos a day across the globe. It was only time before the hunt started and we now hear Google is in talks to acquire youtube for a whopping USD 1.6 billion. Not bad for a 25 employee company that is less than an year old..
Way to go Chad & team..
and.. they started a cottage industry. There are over 250 video-sharing sites on the web.
ReplyDeleteTo think, they started YouTube, so they can share their videos with family & friends... sigh!
the word on the street is that the biggies whose copyrights have been violated in YouTube are waiting for someone like Google to scoop it up. You know what'll happen next don't you.... I would GOOG will be responsible with its horde of cash.
ReplyDeleteApparently there is a rumor that Google executives have asked their engineers to cut back on new product launches. Reason, customers have been confused by too many launches lately....

I am sure Google thought of this 'legal' aspect..
If they have to 'regulate' the innovation stream.. that tells something about the company.. MANnnnnnnn....
Video-sharing Web site YouTube Inc. struck content deals Monday with CBS Corp., Vivendi's Universal Music Group and Sony BMG Music Entertainment.
