Will This Happen?

Dr. Manmohan Singh dreams of 'having breakfast in Amritsar, lunch in Lahore and dinner in Kabul'.
"I dream of a day, while retaining our respective national identities, one can have breakfast in Amritsar, lunch in Lahore and dinner in Kabul. That is how my forefathers lived. That is how I want our grandchildren to live."
Its a grand and bold vision which is definitely possible, but that requires not mere grand vision but bold actions on the ground. If Germany can re-unite, India and Pakistan can at least make their borders irrelevant. But that will not happen till Kashmir issue is resolved.

  1. Visions are not meant to bring immediate results. Making the whole World accessible without barriers is a good dream. Dr. Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech was a similar one and it is still being worked on with improvements here and there. So Dr. Manmohan Singh's leadership will give impetus to the process of barrierless neighbors.

  3. I think there is a very small minority on both sides of the border that has links on the other side of the border. We`are 2 different nations, culturally different. So why make borders irrelevant. But yes we can be better neighbours so there can be less expenses on border policing and less paranoia on both sides.

Culture..? India, Pakistan & Bangaldesh were one country till recently.. agreed the population is diverse.. but that exists within present day India also.. All the problems in North East & Kashmir is a mixture religion, culture & ethinic issues..
My Point or vision is all that should be made irrelevant for our own sake. Improve people to people contact & trade.. If Indians can go to Nepal easily.. who not to the other bordering countries?
