Travelog # 6 - Kansas City, MO

After a short delay in Chicago, I finally got to Kansas City for a conference tomorrow. Have been through this city quite a few years back enroute to Boulder, CO, but at that time I just zipped past I70.

Today being the 5th anniversary of 9/11, there was extra security everywhere from Chennai to Frankfurt to Kansas City, but the folks in this city went out of their way to be pleasant and helpful. This friendly approach helped me ease out of the long journey a little bit. Now I am going to crash and get ready for tomorrow..

Flags flying at half mast on 9/11 day in the heart of US - Kansas City, MO Flags were flying at half mast everywhere. This one in front of the Hotel I am staying in Kansas City.

Just heard President Bush talk to the nation. He is talking about staying course, taking the offense and fighting till the very end. President Bush again tried to justify invading Iraq, but he sounded very hollow. Iraq is a complex war, and it is going to take much more than the rhetoric to bring a closure.

  1. Hi, With reference to your mention of Bush's speech, check this link for "What Bush should have said" - http://www.time.com/time/columnist/klein/article/0,9565,1531272,00.html

This is also a neat article on the 9/11 special of the Time that takes a futuristic look at what people would say in 2031 about America's response to the attach. And you know what i think about the magazine!

Check out my blog for my personal reflection on 9/11.
