President George Bush is in India now and I welcome him with open arms. One may or may not agree with his foreign policies, but no one can deny that he is the president of the most influential nation in the world and his visit is important to India. A country where Athithi Devo Bhava (Guest is God) is a driving force, it rather painful to see people taking to streets and burning effigies.
There is lot in common between USA & India. Both are large diverse democracies feeling the heat of terrorism. I hope something good comes out of this trip. Incidentally, no Republican US president has ever visited India since Mr. Nixon in 1971 at the height of Ind0a - Pakistan tension over Bangla refugees.
