Have you played around with Google Earth ? I got introduced to this yesterday and find it cool in my early drives.
Maps have been around on the Internet for a while now. (In fact Google has one also @ maps.google.com) But what makes Google Earth different is that, it is a downloadable software with 3D capabilities. It combines satellite imagery and mapping to give a good handle on the geographic information of the Earth.
While I was able to zoom in to the exact location / house I lived in US , I was not able to do the same for addresses in India. For example, I was not even able to see Mylapore or T.Nagar.
Google Earth does require newer hardware with 3D capable video card.

also..am not sure if u know abt lifehacker.org,the hottest tech blogs around..it wud suffice 2 keep u updated on latest tech happenings...:)
btw..the OSU horse shoe does look impressive..
